Refurbished mattress?

Question:what exactly is a refurbished mattress?

Answers:
Yuck...never buy a used mattress! I think it is illegal in some states...it is in VA. They have to be sanitized...maybe that's what they mean. Ewww!

it was used, then someone cleaned/repaired it and is reselling it.

just go and buy a new one...cuz using a used one [even if it was cleaned] is just plain gross.
someones just given it a clean. lol, i wouldnt want to buy one, no matter what the price. lol!
A mattress is a major purchase for your home. Like any other furniture in your home, your mattress is going to be around for a very long time. Most mattresses are made to last about fifteen to twenty years. Since we spend about one third of our lives sleeping, it is a good idea not to skimp on your mattress. If you have ever seen an ad for a store that sells mattresses, you may have seen the claim, “we will come and pick up your old mattress for free!” These merchants are not simply really nice guys with access to a garbage dump. The reason stores will take your old mattress is because many old mattresses are ‘rebuilt’ and resold. It is perfectly legal for a manufacturer to use the frame of an old mattress as long as he refurbishes it and puts on a new cover and filling. The springs in these mattresses are the original, old, used springs. The springs of a mattress are what determines if you have a comfortable night’s sleep and if they are old, well, it’s a pretty big risk to take. These refurbished mattresses are often sold very cheaply, for around a hundred dollars or so. Don’t bother with these no-named mattresses, even if you are on a budget, they’ve been slept on before.
What everyone above has failed to mention is the health considerations of a used or reconditioned matress. We are having the worst outbreak of bedbugs this country has ever seen. Hotels are getting them, private home are getting them from hotel travelers. The live in the cracks and crevices of matresses and come out at night to bite you. Just do a google on "bed bug epidemic" and you will see. Also, if someone peed on that bed, there could be mold that is growing on the wood inside the frame.
When they recondition a matress, they typically just replace the pillow top, or the cover over the springs and replace any broken springs or wood parts. They don't steralize it for bed bugs and mold.

Yech...I would never want one.
Its a second hand mattress that someone is trying to palm off. Not sure where you live, but in my country it is illeagal to sell them. Its bad for your health sleeping in someone elses filth (even if you cant see it). Think about it... we perspire while we sleep. where does that all go? It doesnt all evaporate, and unless youve got waterproof sheets, there will inevitably be a build up of bodily fluids in the core of the matress even after a few months. Hope I've detered you. A cheap crappy new one is a thousand times better than a top quality used one!
