Is propane toxic?
Question:
Answers:
Propane is a liquefied petroleum gas. It is heavier than air and both flammable and explosive as it is kept under pressure. If it is not vented correctly, you can suffer from carbon monoxide poisoning just like you can from a kerosene or natural gas heater. As propane is odorless, there is an agent added to the LPG, T_butyl mercaptan (among others), to give it a rotten egg smell so a consumer will know there is a leak.
Propane is nontoxic; however, when abused as an inhalant it poses a mild asphyxiation risk through oxygen deprivation. It must also be noted that commercial product contains hydrocarbons beyond propane, which may increase risk. Propane and its mixtures will cause frostbite during rapid expansion. And by frostbite, I mean it will solidly freeze your nose and sinus cavities.
It would be stupid to try to get high by inhaling propane.
it is flammable, so you dont want to be smoking or have an open flame. Even if it doesnt kill you, enough would deprive you of oxygen and that will kill you. Ive had friends pass out from sucking helium, and heard of people dieing from that.
Yes, it's not good for you.
