Anyone Know how to get rid of lizards?

Question:I have never seen so many lizards in my life untill I moved out here to the country. It's like lizard city out here!! Does anyone know of a good way of getting rid of them w/out having to call an exterminator? Some of them are realy disturbing looking and scare me & my little girl. Please help!

Thanks in advance!

Lizards are beneficial creatures. They eat even more undesired pests. I wouldn't bother getting rid of them.

"Lizards make up one of the most diverse and successful groups of modern reptiles. Several types of lizards occur and none are harmful to humans or pets. In fact, these lizards are beneficial, as they prey on a wide variety of small insects such as crickets, cockroaches, moths, grubs, beetles, flies, and grasshoppers. They do not chew their food but swallow it whole."

Awe thats so sad, I love lizards.

I have no idea how to get rid of them but maybe this will work.

Save your urine in a bucket and spread it around the area where you see lizards. Maybe they will move away from that territory, or just scare them with loud noises.
they are part of nature they are not poisonous they are not aggresive, they will eat nasty vectors like flies roaches mosquitos, they were there before u when i was a kid i would catch them as pets pls dont instill this fear into your kids teach them tolerance and appreciation for the beauty of God's creation
Keep in mind that lizards are much better to have in your house than bugs. They're excellent pest-controllers. If you get rid of the lizards, chances are you'll start seeing bugs. Lizards are harmless to people, even the ones that look creepy. I used to live in Ft. Lauderdale and used to see all kinds of lizards, including what I called "night geckos" (I'm not sure if that's what they're really called -- but they were very pale with large black eyes and they usually only came out at night). Even as creepy as they looked, I always preferred seeing them to seeing bugs in my house.

If you're really intent on getting rid of them, you need to cut off their entry points (holes in screens, spaces under doors, etc.) The ones inside will eventually starve.
You moved to their territory and not the other way around. Where do you live? We in Australia love having our 'Blue Tongue' lizards around and feed them. They become like pets.
Why don't you take the time to find out about the different species around you. The scary looking one's are like that to keep their predators away. Lizards rarely bother humans except for being a bit scary looking and maybe the odd sunbaking on the path.
Learn about them and find out what the other people around you do. Most lizards are actually protected so not sure if they can be exterminated and since it is their territory others will only come to live there.
I know how you feel, I lived in Queensland and we had Cyclone season happening and frogs and Toads were every where, Shudder. My son loved the frogs so he had the job of getting them out of the house all 4 yrs old of him, while 23 yr old me was up on lounge and shuddering. Younger sisters watching from safe distance.
Al I can say is ecology is not always warm and fuzzy.
And why did you move to the country? Did you want to get away form the "Rat race", get back to a more smpler way of life?, get back to nature? Those lizards are one of natures way of keeping the insect population in check. get rid of them and you will need to have an externaniter out all the time to get rid of the bug population that they are doing for you for free.
