Tips for getting rid of ants?

Question:We have this hug ant problem in our home and WANT to get rid of these pests. I live in Australia in NSW if that helps.

Answers:
20 mule team borateam (sold in the section where detergents are sold) is borax. It is poisonous.

I had a HUGE ant infestation, esp. after it rained. They were everywhere. I sprinkled this generously all over my wall to wall carpet, left it there for 24 hours, vacuumed it up and ants were gone. I wouldn't sweep it up as it would raise dust clouds.

I also sprinkled some in wall cracks and floor cracks and left it there permanently, but then I didn't have small kids or pets. This stuff is poisonous. Works like a charm.

Borax in the corners of a room and the outside of your house
get some ant killing drug from the garden store like "Bunnings" - it really works ! But you may have to re-use it after a few months
Bug Spray !
Ive got a robo can you can buy them from bunnings they let a spray out every 7 minutes and keep all ants out of our house. It is made by "Innovair" Its not bad for pets either like some poisons and powders.
Use Sevin.
If you children and/or animals be careful when and where you place it in the home. Their safety is first.
Try this: To locate a nest, try following a trail of ants until they disappear. You can also place syrup or honey on cardboard or wax paper squares along ant trails. A thick trail leading from the syrup can help you pinpoint the nest. If the nest is found outdoors, pour large amounts of boiling water directly into the nest to destroy it. Use a full pot of water. Repeat if necessary. Put a little cornstarch in the vacuum bag to help suffocate the ants. Always remove the vacuum bag, seal the opening, and dispose of promptly.

To keep ants from entering your home, fill cracks and crevices that provide entry from outside with silicone caulk. Seal around baseboards, moldings, cupboards, pipes, ducts, sinks, toilets, and electrical outlets. A temporary seal can be made using petroleum jelly or duct tape. Weather-strip around doors and windows.

Trim branches of trees and shrubs that touch your home to keep ants from crawling across to the roof or siding. Provide a dry, vegetation-free border, such as brick walkways or stones, around the house foundation to discourage nest building. Avoid stacking wood or trash next to structures. Regularly inspect compost and firewood piles, plant containers, and woody debris for ants.

Good Luck!
I had a BIG problem with them as well and bought a product called ANTSAND that is made by MORTEIN. I live in S.A. If you live in N.S.W. you should be able to get it at any supermarket. Please try it. I put it down at night and woke up to a trail of dead ants in the morning. lol Good luck.
