Question:will they accept installments
also what would happen if i ignore letters
Help
Answers:
They will accept installments. Do not ignore the letters. If you do then they will inform credit reference agencies. This is bad if you ever want credit again.
i'd avoid british gas if i were you.
Yeah my mum's winter bill was 550 and that was on the age concern budget, she had 200 in credit and paid off the rest 50 a week at the post office, seemed to have loads of problems swapping over to Powergen though, took about 2 months before we were released even though we made many calls. Npower just don't like letting u go.
Better phone em and do a deal regarding the ignored letters before they send in the dogs.
My advice would be do not ignore letters, call them up and arrange an installment payment system so that you can pay for the fuel in smaller amounts.
In the mean time log onto uswitch.co.uk and enter the relevant details and it will indicate to you who are the cheapest suppliers in your area.
Also, to keep your fuel bills down but still able to keep a warm home think about how you can save energy such as making sure things are switched off properly when you are not using them; only filling your kettle with as much water as you need, take a shower more often than baths; turn lights off when not in the room; make sure you use your heating controls and thermostat properly.
If you would like more advice about saving money on your fuel bills you should contact your regional EST energy advice centre (www.est.org.uk) for their contact details as well as opther measures you can take to improve the energy effiicency of your home such as cavity wall and loft insulation or access to grants that will be able to arrange this for you. If you own your home or rent from a private landlord you may be eligible for a Warm Front government grant try www.eaga.co.uk for more details.
