Use insect repellant.
I've also read that bog myrtle oil is a natural repellant when either applied to the skin or burnt in a vapouriser. I tried it in Kos and got a lot less mosquito bites than my friends. Now whether that was due to the bog myrtle or not, I can't say.

My wife suffers badly from insect bites of all kinds, even in winter when there don't seem to be any insects around. Several people suggested taking vitamin B daily. It doesn't work straight away, you have to wait for it to build up, apparently, and keep taking it. She started last year and she certainly hasn't been bitten as much as she used to be.
the only thing i can suggest is go to the chemist and get some cream, its a real exuse the pun pest, as they bite me too.
I tuck a sprig of fresh mint behind my ear when out in the garden and it keeps them away fine and dandy.
Try citronella essential oil, very effective, non poisonous, works well for me.
'Jungle Formula' best stuff ever. I suffered from bites year after year... this stuff really does the job. Get the pump spray one.
I've taken it everywhere with me, America, India, Amsterdam. Just make sure you apply it when near water, at night, and just before your monthlies (apparently they are more attracted to women around that time) I promise you'll be satisfied... I've recommended it to many of my friends who also think its great.
use a solution of 50% Dettol and 50% baby oil. Spray on as required.
