New paint rubbing/falling off? Help?
Question:I just went into our guest bedroom to wash the sheets (we just had company). Some of the paint near the head of the bed has rubbed off. It looks like someone took sand paper to it or something (though I know this is not the case). Not all of the paint is gone. Just little bits and pieces.
There is no headboard so the pillows lean against this wall. The only thing I can think of is that somehow the pillows were rubbing off the paint but that doesn't make any sense. Our guest was only here for three nights!
This has never been a problem before. The room was painted a few months ago with Sherwin Williams semi-gloss. I used Duration Home which is supposed to be really good. What could have caused this? How can I prevent this from happening? Any fix-it tips? Thanks! I appreciate it.

Same thing happening in my bathroom.
I had my paneling and woodwork painted. No primer was used, and I think all the years of cleaning the wood left a residue.
No matter if a good paint is used, if the surface was not properly prepared, the paint job will be less than acceptable. A light sanding, and a new coat of paint will solve your problems.
Maybe they had hair clips in their hair and we rubbing their heads aaginst the wall...the only thing I can suggest is to get a head board ...were they putting thier luggage at the top of the bed and maybe sitting on the bed and it was rubbing the wall?...to fix, sand lightly til smoth, prime and paint.
