Venus Flytrap growth tips?
Question:i hav a VFT and i fed it with a roach after a few days the leaf opened partially and then it rotted and died.another problem was when i put it outside my window to get some sun and an hour later the leaves were so dry that they were like dying i want to know what is a good food for this plant because it seems like the roach killed the leaf and how much sun should it get during the growing season and how much should i feed it. i also want to know how often should i water it.

I had a really hard time keeping these guys alive! First, dont feed the plant anything, I think that is how I killed mine. There is supposedly enough little insects flying around for it to feed on itself. Here is an informative website... hopefully it helps!
Treat it like a fern. It does not like direct sunlight. Keep it in filtered light, with moisture but warm.
And once they feed, those appendages do die off and another one grows. Don't worry about that.
Once a week or so, feeding is OK
Don't worry about feeding it bugs just good soil and water if its still small put a little plastic cup over it. it will make like a green house effect at least thats what Ive seen them do at work and they never have them in direct sun more like a screened in porch area hope that helps

Well if it turns black that is normal it is going dormant and is NOT DEAD. They dont like direct sunlight and mine like to eat boxcelder bugs. Ants will do but unless they are very big dont give them much food. Feed them small things like pieces of beef or chicken or other kinds of small pieces of meat. GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!
