How do I get rid of the fishy smell from sea shells brought home from vaction in Florida??

Question:I soaked and washed them with a bleach solution, and dish soap but nothing, they're in zip lock bags on the basement stairs and I can smell them in the bedroom!! We really want to keep these little 'mementos' but can't stand the stink!

Answers:
Next time, bring them home and leave them out on the deck or in the driveway for a week or so, let ants clean them for you.

Boil them in hot lemon or lime water.
the link below tells many ways to get rid of the smell:
modify them
Not sure what kind of shells that you had found but I know it is common with the conch shells that sometimes the conch is still in the shell when you take it. This will cause a HORRENDOUS odor, is it possible that this is what happened? If that is the case, you may need to do a stronger bleach solution in order to clean it out of there
They need to be out in the bright sun. This will bleach them out and get rid of the smell.
Try a lemon juice and club soda mixture. You may need to scrub any extra sea matter away.
wash them like you do. then let them sit in the sun for a couple of days
Soak them in milk, rinse in cold water, dry in the sun.
