How long does it take to build an approximately 2900 sq. ft. house?

Question:I puchased a lot in a subdivision from a builder in CT at the end of April. I have signed the contract. I was told by the builder that the house would be completeted by the middle of Oct. Is this timeline reasonable? Thanks,

Answers:
Yes, A house of that size should be 3 to 9 months depending on crew size, location, local ordnance, and design.

6 months is areasonable time.
Timeframe for work completed depends largely on the level of customization. e.g. ... cabinets, floor design, architecture, elevated landscapes ... the more your home strays away from the standard cookie cutter design, the longer it will take, as sub-contractors won't be able to use their pre-fabricated creations. 6 months doesn't sound unreasonable, but I have seen houses of that size built in shorter time.
