How much money would you recommend we have on hand for a grage sale?
Question:We've got a garage sale coming up on Saturday. How much money would be wise to have for making change? We've got items ranging from the $150.00 mark all the way down to $0.10. Any suggestions for the amounts of each denomination? Would appreciate the input from any seasoned yard sale professionals. This is our first garage sale.

I would suggest that you have about 50$ mostly in ones and change down to dimes
have lots of singles (40 would be a good start) , fives (perhaps 60) and probably 60 in tens.
Twenties are the most common bill for people to have on hand now a days and for a purchase that is a few bucks you will obviously have to give the majority of that back.
I would say having 10 bucks in quaters and about 5 bucks in dimes, and a dollar or so in nickles.

you should always have enough change handy. for the items that are about 10 cents, you always have small change like that, because most people don't carry around 10 cents! they will probably pay with loonies. for the 150 dollars, the buyer may go home to get a truck if its something big, if so, they will probably get the correct change. so you will need tens and twenty's also!
well,if u got $150.00 in the sale all together i would have at least $200.00 bc sometimes when people buy something and when your ready to give their change back say,like their going to buy some in 1.20-1.50 range,they'll give u 2.00 they'll say,keep the change.so,thats extra.i do that when i buy something from someone i tell them keep the change it helps u out alittle.but u would have $200.00 that way u have enough.or between $200.00-225.00
I always get a roll each of nickles, dimes and quarters. On the paper side I get $50.00 in singles, 6-$5.00 bills and 2-$10.00 bills.
I never use pennies and price items so pennies are not involved.
That totals $117.00. It works well with us. I also will take personal checks, however I write down the drivers license information and take a digital picture of the person.
