I have these tiny almost microscopic bugs crawling on my desk at home. Any guesses as to what they are?

Question:I'm trying to figure out what they are and how i can get rid of them. When I squish them, they smear. They are a reddish-orange color.

It sounds like clover mites. They are harmless but a nuisance. They only live 24 hours but procreate like crazy. You will have them for about 1-1/2 weeks and that will be it depending on the part of the country you live in.

Call an exterminator. They're the experts and can suggest a treatment to get rid of them.
