Can wasp eat wood, or sidding, to make ther nest?

Yes, quite a few. Carpenter bees make homes in wood making perfect 5/16" holes on the underside of lumber with piles of saw dust that look just like they were made with a drillbit. Wasps and hornets that make the paper nests do so with chewed bits of weathered wood. And I'm not sure what those "jumbo sized SOB's" do with the bark they rip from my plum trees! RScott
