What shall i do?
Question:i bought a little tree from Ikea last month, which was growning in deep shade with my care, i gave it changed water everyday, and later i found it sttop growning...then, i had picked some clay from a garden, and changed its own, watering it's root... now she is going to die, i knew that there was two different clay...can it be saved?
Answers:
Take soil out of pot. You cannot grow a shrub in Clay.Plus you are drowning it. A shrub should only be watered when the top of soil is dry.You need to put some small stones or pieces of a broken pottery plant pot at bottom of pot. Put proper potting mix in pot and fill almost to top.Cut any dead pieces of root off. Place shrub in pot. Stake if neccessary. Cover roots with rest of potting mix. Keep shrub somewhere warm with no draughts. If it is in ground, do the same as pot. But remember too much water and it will die. Hope you can save it!
You shocked it. Try replanting in good rich soil like miracle grow potting soil. Make sure it get good drainage. Give it time to regroup. It may take awhile
I am not sure what you just said but I think you should just leave the tree alone for a while...keep watering it, but don't go changing the soil or moving it. It probably went into shock from all the things going on in its life. It may just need some time to recuperate...Perhaps next spring will tell you how it is going to do.
Lizzy,
First, moving it from shade to sun was hard for the tree. It would have been better if you had gradually let it become accustomed to full sun. That in itself may have killed it, depending on what type of tree it is. There is a possibility that it will recover, however.
Next, I think you were trying to say that you transplanted it. Going from a nice potting soil to clay soil is another thing that is difficult for a plant, but they normally recover just fine. It takes some time for the tree to grow new roots. While it is recovering, the tree doesn't usually get new leaves or have any top growth.
The one thing you have done incorrectly is to water it to much! Tree roots have to breath! Watering it everyday doesn't allow this to happen, so it may have drowned. The only hope is that you stop and the tree has a slim chance to recover.
Water once a week, for 30 mins. to one hour and that is all it needs.
Hope this helps.
