some cinder blocks or bricks and nice 2x4's is a good standard and inexpensive way if you can find someone getting rid of extras. you can also use plastic milk crates which is what i did in school. Shoe storage seems to work well also. The white small shelves seem to hold the paperbacks perfectly. and the plastic shelving at the hardware store with the adjustable height shelves are great for hard back books of different sizes.
No better way than in a bookshelf, unless you make the shelf out of less used books.Seemes you'd have a real mess with any little slip..so XXXthat..Only thing worth mentioning is for bathroom mags, quick reads,cross-words, etc...was an old hymnal bookholder that you see on the backs of the pews!! Fits nice behind the door,is up off the floor and takes no floor space. Also away from the sink and can't get splashed.Works for us!!
One way I've seen that is rather neat is to buy construction paper of an accent colour you have in the room your storing them in and recover them in this colour..
Or chose two different colours and cover them all, they will now become a focal point in the room and not so messy looking..
you either put them in aphabetical order or by your favorite author
I don't mean this in a mean way.it just might be a good idea to get rid of the books you don't want anymore...after-all, all they do is collect dust. I am sure your local library would love to have some nice conditioned books to add to their collection or to sell in their used book fundraiser. Keep your prized ones and get rid of the others. I work in a library and I read a lot of books and I hardly have any at home. Why put out the money? And, no storage problems.
