jeesh that wasnt made clear was it! ask a gas man or if u have the manual call up the makers if the boiler, good luck, it should certaintly have the simple buttons most boilers have..timed, constant, off ect, i would try pressing the skip next button see what happens
Hit "present setting" & go from there.
Old Honeywell? It should have a small lever on the outside against the wall with markings that say "Fan" "Heat" and "Off." If this is broken off, pull off the cover. You will see a mercury tip switch. Tip it so that the mercury is at the end of the tube away from the electric points you will see.
Then go get another thermostat.
I have 3 of them. The problem is not necessarily at the thermostat. It is possible that one of the 24 volt controls is stuck in the closed position. If it is electric heat the fan relay may be stuck closed also. I wouldn't think that the "heat would be stuck "on" but it can happen. One thing to do whether it is gas or electric is to shut off the power supply. Wherever the unit is located there will either be a power cord that plugs into a 120v duplex receptacle, or a service disconnect in the case of an electric heater. Turn it off and call for service. This is not something you want to try and repair yourself other than replacing the thermostat. I love my stat.
