What should I use to clean my new hardwood floors?
Question:I have new Bruce pre-finnished oak hardwood floors. I have two young kids that have an uncanny knack for getting sticky stuff on the floors. I have been using a damp cloth for spot cleaning. I am getting lazy, and I would like to keep the floors clean and protected.
Answers:
go to a hardware or flooring store and buy "Bona" brand hardwood floor cleaner. a lot of other cleaners on the market are to harsh and can end up actually damaging the finish on the wood. Bona is formulated to work with damaging. its what i use to take glue off the floor when im working.
Murphey's oil soap.It' the best!
you could put a coat of poly urethane down, and that will keep it clean and resist damage
or to just clean it, windex and water in a mop bucket
or buy a roomba. its about 50 bucks and it is a self propelled vacuum. those things are bad ***
Spto clean the icky stuff with Murphy's Oil Soap, then do the whole floor with Pledge for Hardwood Floors every few weeks.
It will help the icky stuff keep from sticking later.
Murphy's Oil is to oily, it attracts dirt/dust, i use a micro mop, wet mop.wring it till almost dry to the touch, don't slop any water on wood , I have been house cleaning for 14 years, I use vinegar and water on my floors, and my clients, if unsure ask a floor manufacture, Home depot, Lowes
