Can anyone give me the steps for turning on a gas heater for a swimming pool.?

Question:my brother showed me how a couple weeks ago but now he's out of town and i'd like to use it tomorrow. thanks

Answers:
Make sure the pump is on and water is flowing through the heater at all times.

Open the service panel, there should be instructions on the inside of this panel telling you how to ignite the heater. If not here's how.

Make sure your gas line is on (handle will line up with the line if it is). Turn your heater setting up to the normal range. Push in and turn the knob and hold it for ten seconds. This should ignite the burner. There may be an igniter that you have to push as well, or it could be a different way as many heaters operate in as many different ways.

If it doesn't ignite in the first three tries, turn the gas off and let the area air out for 20 minutes.

If all else fails, post up the name brand of the heater and the model number and we'll try to look up a user manual online for proper procedure.
