How do I get rid of Black ants in my car?
Question:I want to know what type of pesticides or bait to use. It is a old car that has been sitting for a while and I want to know how to get rid of them.
Answers:
first use any kind of bug spray close the door and wait an hour or so, but then take it to a do it your self car wash open up all your doors and hood and trunk and rinse the whole thing down sometimes they make their nests in the rubber guards around the openings, if you have to spray down the engine too be sure to avoid the carburetor and air filter , if you don't know what they look like ask some one because if you soak the area where the spark plugs are you may not be able to start the car,
kill them all
You can buy almost any ant bait that they will take back to the nest where all of them will die.
peppermint oil: rub it on everything. Not only will the car smell good, but ants taste with their feet and peppermint burns their feet.
ant traps
You can get a pesticide bomb at any store that has a lawn and garden departement. I you don't plan on using the car for a while you can set on off let it set a few days and then open the windows to air it out and then vacuum the dead pests.
Any kind will do. But more importantly, don't eat in the car and clean it. If there is no food, the ants will go away.
Ants hate cucumbers. Slice a few up and leave in places no one will step on and the ants will leave. This works good around door ways on your home too.
Cleaning the car should be a given too.
go get one of those little traps at the grocery store that you place on the floor--put them in several area's around inside ur vehicle. Make sure to vacuum it out real good as well.
I know what a nuisance they can be!! Used to have the same prob in my kitchen during early springs
an old hippy trick, well its totally cruelty free. a good dose of sunshine will help.
i have the same problem, if you find the answer let me know. I have tried those little ant baits and they really don't work well.
Spectracide bug spray does, after it sits for a day and dries you have to wash your whole car inside and out.
use a hose - water it down .. safe and harmless yet effective.
Baby powder worked for me and then clean and vacuum the car cuz it probably has food or crumbs.
Ants look for food...clean the car...they are probably finding sugar of some kind!
