I just bought a Parkview fireplace patio set... What do I use to build a fire?

Question:The set was a floor model... so they came with no instructions... do I use charcoal or is wood ok? Any help is gratly appreciated.

um..im not that much of a pro, but i no that you can take a lighter and dry brush to start it, but then add little by little larger peices of sticks, then wood!(i think so anyway!)
