Can you convert a summer home to an all year around home? is it legal?
Question:i found a home that is a resonable price. however, i found out that due to the water, it can only be used from April - October. Is it possible to have it converted to a house that can be used all year round? is it legal? how much would it cost? also, there are houses in the same area that are all year around houses.
p.s. please do not soliciate me to buy a home. i am just asking a question.
thank you very much

Most anything is possible but at what cost. Why isn't the water used in the winter? Find out why? If it is because the place is not insulated properly that can be corrected. If its because the water is shut off at the main by the local authorities, that can be resolved.
You need to ask as many questions as possible. the $70K sounds great. What if you bought it at that price and only used it during the summer months until you can make improvements and it then becomes a year round home. Sounds like a great investment opportunity.
If you buy the home, you can do whatever you want to with it. You can call it whatever you want to. It surely isn't illegal.
You can use it whenever you want to also. You shouldn't run into any problems. I don't know what costs you might run into. There shouldn't be much. Unless it doesn't have anyway to heat it in the winter. I have seen "summer" homes that have no heat for winter.
What about the water does it freeze? If so that can be fixed. Who said this? The owner or local ordnance's
