Just moved into a new apartment and within 2 days we noticed a roach problem?

Question:I never had to deal with roaches but I just moved into an apartment with two other friends of mine. When we got the place the landlord told us they call spray for bugs monthly but we noticed one roach before we moved in and two since we have. We have a real clean house with no food and all of the apartment has been remodeled. New flooring, applicances and cabinets. How do we get rid of the roaches. Any advice would help.

Answers:
DO NOT SPRAY ANYTHING! Find out when the pest tech will come out from the landlord and make sure you are on the list. If possible, have him call the company to have the tech come out just to take care of your unit. The products that the professional will use should help. If you spray anything yourself, you may just inactivate the better professional strength products. When the pest tech comes in, make sure that they not only spray the floors (which is really only for show, since it won't do anything for these guys) but also treat the plumbing voids, any voids in the cabinets, they need to bait the cabinet door hinges, and drawers. If possible ask them about using Gentrol Point Source which is a growth regulator. It is a very slow acting product (it stops the roaches from moulting) but it is long term, very effective! Good luck!

bug spray at your local hard ware store ,or walmart ,
or use the roach gell ,comes i n a tube
i would buy the spray stuff at the hardware store and use it. i would also keep on the landlord and demand that they get professional exterminators in there to do spraying quarterly. the problem can be from neighbors or elsewhere and should be treated professionally. when you see one . there are zillions more and they breed fast . you do not want these in your clothes/furniture. if you do not get fast response, send a written request documenting that he told us that they would handle the situation for you. good luck to you.
Go ahead and spray all threshholds, and baseboards with Sprectracide Indoor/Outdoor Spray. That will keep them from coming in from someone else's apartment. After that, mix equal parts sugar and baking soda together and sprinkle behind appliances and under the kitchen and bathroom sinks. It is a really good pesticide free way to kill roaches.
It's going to be tough unless your landlord will have it taken care of. It will definitely take a professional to end the problem. In the meantime, use sprays etc. from the store and continue to keep things as clean as possible. If the landlord wont have them come in and really do a good job.you might have to move and treat all your stuff before you take it into the new place. I suspect your neighbors have them too and in apartments, once they start, it is a very big problem.
Your neighbors have roachers. So does the local grocery store and you get a few new ones daily. Spray with a residual action to keep killing between treatments. A professional who comes monthly works best.
Keep a clean uncluttered house. Don't save newspapers or bags (bugs hide in them). I discovered that our supermarket had cockroaches because one crawled out of a bag we had just carried our groceries in from the store. Let pest control experts handle the problem and the poisons.

Don't apply poisons yourself. (My mother did spray a lot and I have always suspected that is the reason why she had cancer and died relatively young.)
Hold your landlord's feet to the fire on this one! Gels work good but should be applied by a professional.
Monthly spraying will help but in a complex they will move back and forth between units unless all units are treated.
People moving in and out carry them in from their previous homes.
I rank a roach right up there with mice. Can't stand them.what purpose do they serve?
Good luck!
