How should store bought basil be kept so that it can be fresh for a few days at least?
Question:I find that basil is one of the most " high maintance" herbs. Once I buy it home, I have to use it all at the same days, or it will turn bad next day. Is it wrong to keep the basil in the fridge? How shoud it be kept so that it can last longer? Thanks.

Yes, in the fridge, you genius.
Rinse it and wrap it in damp paper toweling. Place the Basil and the toweling in a plastic food storage bag and keep it in your vegetable crisper drawer.
First, be sure to wash it well! Let it dry off a bit then wrap it loosely in a paper towel (damp, not wet) and keep it in the fridge. You could also try to grow it in some small pots outside. It is easy to grow from seed and then you can cut it as needed!
if you dont find it to much trouble take that rubber band or twisty off and lay the stems flat on a paper towel in a single layer roll up the paper towel and put it in a zip lock make sure you get as much air out as you can should last 4-5 days

you can put the basil in a plastic bag and make sure you tie the end of the bag and place it in the crisper in the fridge but the best way to keep it is in a Tupperware container that is made for celery and spinach they are very good and your basil will keep for at least two weeks.
When you bring the basil home from the store, rinse it off, wrap it ina cold, damp(not wet) paper towel, put it in a baggie and put in the vegetable bin in the fridge. That's what I do and it lasts for a week.
when u buy the basil wash it and place it in a damp towel then put it in a plastic zip lock bag. this will keep it fresh about a week. if u want to go longer put it in a ziplock bag and freeze it with out the damp towel and it will last u for months.
