How should I grow my watermelons?
Question:I planted some watermelon sprouts, in a 3'x7' plot in my backyard, in regular dirt (but I put in in a whole with gardening soil) with root blaster. There are five plants, in case one dies. Is that okay? Should I change anything?

Lots of sunlight. Like a field with no buildings or trees around it. Your soil amending is OK from what I can read but fruit and vegetables usually need six plus hours of sunlight.
As far as root stimulator you are better of with superthrive. Superthrive is a hormone product. Just a few drops like it's directions say.
You may get a lot of watermelon vine and very little watermelons without eight plus hours of sunlight. What you plant is based on where you live. Is the soil acidic or alkaline ect. Is there enough light and so forth. I'm a gardener in West Texas
No, all you have to do is make sure you water your plants and have fertile soil. Just give it time to grow and you should have juicy fruits.
Just have one tip for you if you have never grown them. When the melons get big on the vine you need to know when to harvest. On the vine there will be little tendrils every so far. When the tendrils along the vine near the melon dry up and turn brown then that melon is ready. Thumping is not a good method nor is looking a bottom to see if it has a large white spot. There is nothing more disappointing than growing a large beautiful melon only to pick it green and cut it open to disappointment.
Otherwise, water them often and enjoy the results.
The best way to grow watermelons is on top of a mound of dirt like a small hill. Also, don't water them much. I made this mistake and over watered and it killed them. Watere lons are native to the Kalahari desert in Africa, They don't need hardly any water to grow. The roots are rally good at pulling it out of the soil.
