Natural (non-poisonous) way to get rid of ants?
Question:I have a 10 month old child that likes to get in to everything and I am afraid to use Terro or raid or any other chemical. Does anyone have any proven ideas for me?
Answers:
sprinkle cinnamon. ants hate it.
Talcum powder or salt... i can't remember which =S
There are poison you can use to spread outside of your house. Go to any local hardware store and they should have the product available. These products will kill the ants before they come in your house. If that does not work, you may have to call a professional and have them look at your basement and see if the ants have made a colony in your house.
I was told once to put a puddle of honey near where you have seen the ants, to guide them away. I had ants in my bathroom once... and it worked for that.
the best way to kill ants is to pour boiling water (approx. 3-4 gallons) down the anthill and anywhere u find mass amounts of them. u can sprinkle powdered chilli pepper around the anthill 2. also bayleaves are pretty good at detturing ants. as a way of stopping them from entering your home though, you mite try using 100% silicon caulk in all the cracks they enter thru.
Baking Soda
borax (used to soften your water for laundry and not toxic, unless you had a diet of it) and sugar. mix them together as a liquid (by adding hot water) and put it in a cap/lid, on the floor. the ants eat the sugar and borax and take it to their hive. they all die.
very old way to get rid of them.
