Why does Sewing Machine not sew?
Question:I bought a used sewing machine from Goodwill, a Singer. It's actually in near-new condition, correctly threaded but won't sew. It's a Singer Stylist. It has the following buttons:
Flex Stitch; stitch width (0-5); needle position L C R(left, ctr right); stitch control (Fine - 12) and the top left wheel dial (1-5). True, I haven't sewn since I was a young girl in school, but remember how to and see that it set up correctly. Probably something I overlooked?
Answers:
Did you wind a bobbin and forget to tighten the clutch knob afterward (center knob in the middle of the hand wheel)? To tighten, turn it clockwise (away from you). If not, I would undo everything and rethread and set everything up again. Good luck.
www.SewUSA.com has free threading diagrams, look at your model here: http://www.sewusa.com/threading_diagrams... They also sell reprint manuals.
Singer has manuals for your machine, they cost $15.00 here: http://www.singerco.com/accessories/manu...
did you remember the tension? or did you remember it needs a bobbin?
(probably a dumb question) Is it plugged in? Is it turned on?
Does it need to be oiled?
Is the needle broken?
You might find a manual at google.
