Whereabouts have you put it?
I've had one for four years, and it must be about five feet tall now. And the main reason I think it's doing so well is because of its location - in my conservatory. It likes lots of bright light, but not too much direct sunlight. I found direct sun scorches the leaves.
So, put it in a nice light location. A few feet away from a south-facing window is a good spot. And make sure you mist the leaves regularly - it likes humidity.
I doubt you over-watered it. It's one of very few houseplants that are almost impossible to over-water. Give it a little plant food like Baby Bio every so often. And make sure it has plenty of fresh air - it dislikes dry, indoor air. So ,open a window near it if you can.
Good luck trying to save it. I hope you're successful, as it's a beautiful plant. Mine is easily the most eye-catching plant in the conservatory!
