Powerwashing a patio??
Question:i have just powerwashed my patio and its looking much brighter than before but not quite as good as i hoped. the powerwasher is mine and its extremely strong so i dont think thats the problem, i used a cleaner too but it didnt seem to do anythin (despite the fact that i paid a fortune for it and i mixed it sronger than suggested!)
ant tips on getting a better result??
Answers:
Start spraying with the cleaning tip well away from the surface and gradually bring the tip to within the range you would like to spray the rest of the board. Use a steady, continuous motion and continue across the length of the entire board instead of using short, back and forth motions.
When cleaning masonry surfaces, use a circular motion to minimize noticeable marks on the surface. Consider sealing the surface after it's been cleaned and allowed the proper amount of drying time.
just tear down your patio
maybe do it a second time as you well know a power washer can also strip everything off including chips of wood Good Luck
First get the water very hot and hold the potato under it...Wait did you say patio. sorry
No idea we didnt use anything other than water and it made a huge difference.
hiya.it really depends on a few things.how old arfe the flags? are they natural or a man made concrete product?
if they are concrete then the colour will have faded.the only way to bring them up like "new" would be to use a decent sealant on them..now...bq and focus ect do an own brand one...but i would look for a concrete supply shop and use the sealant that is for patterned concrete..will make the patio look great and you wont need to clean it for a few years.
You need sodium hypochlorate 12 - 15% mix - get it from good hardware stores.
It's basically a super strong bleach (normal bleach is 2% strength - the 15% stuff has a real kick to it)
This will clear any staining, moss, lichen, marks from stone and with a wire brush will bring it up beautifully. Just be careful with it and wear eye protection!
Bleach. The stongest stuff you can find.
Most of the expensive cleaners you buy are nothing but bleach water. Read the contents before you purchase anymore.
I use flat cola.Just cheap brand stuff.Pour over and leave for a couple of hours, then powerwash again.Always works well for me.But imagine what it does to your insides??
I'm guessing a concrete patio, and a 50/50 mix of water/bleach can work pretty well too. It's a lot cheaper than the various cleaners.
Wet the concrete, apply cleaner, and scrub in with a long handled brush. Then pressure wash the area off. Let the whole area dry, then seal it to keep it looking good.
Try adding bleach to the mix or just bleach and water. You can try a weak mix ... if you stronger, just make sure you rinse with plain water immediately after wash, or you'll have all sorts of bleaching marks.
I would suggest after powerjetting to allways give the area a good wash with bleach, preferable domestos, this leaves it looking cleaner, for a lot longer, also prevents any growth of algea
Power washing can do more harm than good because it gradually erodes the surface of the slabs/bricks/concrete, making them attract the dirt more quickly and easily, so the patio will need cleaning much more often.
I used 'Patio Magic' on mine and it worked really well. You just spray a diluted mix of the liquid all over your patio and walk away. It dries in a couple of hours, but continues to 'work' for about a week - you will see a gradual change each day and after a week your patio will look cleaner and fresher.
It also promises to kill off any moss and keep it at bay for a year. I bought mine from our local garden centre - £9.99 for the smallest container - but it works out more economical if you need a bigger size. It's not the cheapest cleaner on the market, but it lives up to its name - magic!
i dont think there is any thing better than a good old fashioned scrubbing brush! i powersprayed my path etc and while it was still wet brushed over it with a stiff bristled yard brush then another spray it looked a bit better,, you could always throw a diluted bleach and water mix over the area as well?
