Can anyone suggest a pesticide for my tomato plant that is environmentally friendly and won't hurt my family?
Question:Remember that I intend to eat my tomatoes at some point, so I want it to be able to either be non-harmful to my health or able to be washed off. Any suggestions?

There are commercial 'powders' that you can use up to the day of harvest. Check the local hardware store. or home and garden store, and you can find powders that help with bugs and disease that are safe for you and your family.
as with all goods and produce, wash your tomatoes with water before eating... bugs can leave nastier 'droppings' than any pesticide can leave on your tomatoes
Use household type products and follow the directions on the package.
Several home remedies that I've heard of are: a soap spray using liquid dish soap, simply sprayed on the plant and resprayed after rain. Another is to use a strong garlic/water spray, used in the same way as above.
Another one that is "natural" but that I probably wouldn't use is an infusion of tobacco leaves in water, sprayed on in the same manner as the above two remedies. Tobacco is poison, so it would have to be carefully washed off.
sevin dust is enviromental friendly. you can even use it on animals to keep fleas away. works great on tomatoes. there are many companies that market it.
