Fig tree & birds?

Question:i have a big fig tree and last year the birds attacked the fruits. i am looking for a way to deter the birds & pests. i only got 1 good fruit last year, i see hundreds of fruits that the birds probably are waiting for too! suggestions on saving the fruits please.

Answers:
buy a plastic owl and hang him in the tree and move him about once a week

Get a fruit tree net. I know I've seen them on fruit trees back east--especially plums-- but birds can get hopelessly tangled in them. Another option is to put a boom-box under the tree and play loud music, or tie strands of shiny plastic (like from mylar balloons) on the branches. The latter I've seen on a lot of vineyards in California, and the former works retty well to keep starlings and blackbirds from roosting in a yard.
