If I build a fire pit with a concrete base will it be sufficient?

Question:Im building a fire pit with the dimensions of 4 x 3 and will use fire brick on the walls but would just a concrete base work or will it deteriorate or blow up?

Answers:
I'd put fire brick over the concrete..after awhile, the concrete's gonna break down from the heat.

Concrete will "explode" when heated enough. That's not a Good idea. I worked in a foundry for two years. None of the floors were concrete. If hot metal spilled on the concrete and sat there, the concrete would "pop" under the metal. Like someone put a fire cracker under it. It would seem to me that the hot coals from thew fire would do the same. Maybe I'm wrong.
use diamond paving stones
It will probebley crack, and deteriorate with time. I dought if it will blow up.
