Flooring for screened porch?!?
Question:We are planning on remodeling our existing back porch, and I would like to screen it in. The floor boards are in bad shape but the supports underneath are fine. (Although our carpenter is suggesting a couple more supports be added.) Should we use plywood for the floor and cover it with all weather carpet, or would that get soggy and mildewy on a screened porch? Or do we need to use individual planks with a screen underneath to keep bugs from coming up from below? (It's about 6 feet off the ground.)
What is the most economical way we can go without creating problems down the road?

Use tongue and groove slats and paint them. No need for screen and not as pricey as you may think.
I would use 5/4 board like what they use on decks and use a nice indoor/outdoor carpet, any moisture will dry out because the floor being the 5/4 board will let it breath, my porch isn't screened in and it's a 10x20 with the carpet I described, it's been on for 10 yrs now and has taken snow,rain and other things mother nature has dealt and this is just a deck with a PVC roof. good luck Les the painter
