How do I take care of a potted Aloe Vera Plant?
Question:
Answers:
Leave your Aloe plant in the pot and place it near a window that gets a lot of sun. You can move the pot outdoors during the summer months.
Watering should be minimal. Allow the soil to become completely dry before giving the plant a cup or two of water. During the summer months, the soil should be completely soaked, but then be allowed to dry again before re-watering.
Aloes have a shallow, spreading root system, so when it is time to re pot choose a wide planter, rather than a deep one. Use a planter with a drainage hole, or provide a 1-2 inch layer of gravel in the bottom of the pot to ensure adequate drainage. Use a good commercial potting mix with extra perlite, granite grit, or coarse sand added. You may also use a packaged 'cacti mix' soil. Fertilise yearly.
dry soil lots of sun
sunny location, water when dirt is dry. repot when too big
Keep it near light, and add water, once a week or so. Then if ya get a scrape or cut,,,,just pinch ya off some of it, and rub on the cut or affected area,,,,,and repeat.
Oh yeah, and your welcome! Aloe plants, are just wonderful. My daughter gave me one once,,,, but it died. from not being used.from poor soil.?? from old age?? lol
Aloe vera plants are pretty care-free. They need to be watered on occasion, of course, but not often; be sure that the soil drains VERY well, and that the plant never sits in water. Keep it in bright light; it might even tolerate sunlight, although I've never tried that with my own plants. Use a fertilizer for succulents; a spike-type fertilizer would be best if you can get it, but it's not an absolute necessity. I keep one in my kitchen to use just in care I burn myself (small burns only) - just snap off a leaf, and apply the thick sap to the burned area.
you water it make sure it has enough water and soil for nutrients
nice sunny position water regularly and you wont have a problem
