Shiplap or Overlap Shed?
Question:Im looking at buying a new shed, probably 7 by 5 ft or thereabouts. Should I go for Shiplap (tonge & groove) which is stronger, more weatherproof but more expensive. Or is it worthwhile getting a cheaper overlap shed which is not as weatherproof. All info welcome.
Answers:
choose the shiplap shed. it may cost more enitionaly but in the end it will last years longer and turn out the better buy.
when selecting your shed make sure the roof is made of timber as some sheds have a chipboard roof and this is much inferior to wood.
I went the shiplap route.
I felt that overlap was too flimsy.
Personally, I've never regretted spending a little extra to get something better; though sometimes I don't have the money for the good stuff and I have to settle for the cheap junk. Here's some things to consider if it's worth it to you:
Are you going to put in the time and effort to maintain the siding so it will last a long time? Do you think you'll still be living in the same place in a few years? Are you keeping things in the shed that would be damaged by a little bit of water?
both are good.I prefer shiplap, but overlap installed the right way is waterproof .overlap will blow away easier where I live in Florida during Katrina type storms, but under normal conditions, overlap is ok good luck
