How can I get rid of a pesky woodpecker without hurting him?

Question:Although he's annoying, all I've had to do is bang on my wall and he'll quit pecking for about an hour - long enough for me to get to sleep. However, he's starting to drill holes into my house - long holes. How can I get rid of this pesky critter without hurting him?
