How do you hang the Ziploc bags of water that keep flies away?
Question:I have read many things that say filling Ziploc bags half full of water will keep flies away. None of the articles say how to hang the bags however. Do you use fishing line? What's strong enough but won't rip the bags?
Answers:
I use the bags they give you at pet stores for your fish. I got mine from walmart. Then all you have to do is cinch the top with a rubber band- just like they do at the fish stores, and hang it from the ceiling with any string or fishing line. You can tie the line below where you cinched it with the rubberband or you can use a hole punch above the cinch- which is what I do- and tie your line through there.
My brother-in-law hang them above his door using push pins, and the sealable freezer bag, the small ones
I saw this in Honduras but it was regular plastic bags. Maybe you could use clothespins.
We use medium nails above the door, on the wood entry to porch and window frames. Probably better methods, more attractive than this but it works.
Amazingly enough, these bags of water work. I've recommended many times since trying it. Didn't believe it 'til I did it.
I have heard that bits of broken cd's or foil in the bag help, but so far so good with just water.
For most questions about fly fishing, there is a good chance you will find what you are looking for at http://www.fishinginformationguide.com/f... Someone else suggested I try it and I found it to be well worth the visit.
