How do I get rid of the tiny black flies in my home?
Question:They are so annoying. I know why they are here. There is an area at the edge of my balcony that collects water, but is there a way to get rid of them? I live in an apartment and can't do much with the collection area, just looking for ways to get rid of them.

Many people swear that a zip-lock bag filled half-way with water and attached over entry-ways will repel flies. No one yet knows how or why it works, but there is speculation that it has something to do with the way the moving water refracts light.
I took a trip to AZ and saw these things hanging all over the place. I finally asked a resident and they told me it was to repel flies and they had no idea HOW it works, but it works.
Call terminex. Pour some bleach on your balcony and scrub with a broom.
btw ... I doubt that the water is what's attracting them. Check for overripe fruit or vegetables - or a trash bag that needs to be taken out more often - or a compost bucket that needs to go out more often and to be cleaned.
