How do we get rid of iron and copper in our pool water?
Question:
Answers:
Technically you never will unless you drain the pool and refill it with water that doesn't contain these metals.
BUT, there are products out there that will bind the metals into different molecular compounds so that they won't stain nor will they discolor the water. These sequestering agents are sold under a variety of names... Metal Lock, Metal Out, Iron Out, etc etc etc. Follow the instructions on the bottle and add 1/4 more than what is recommended.
If you are using an ionizer then you will need to remove this from your pool when using these sequestering agents. Also, if you use any algaecide be careful and read the ingredients as most of them contain copper. Despite all claims to the contrary, if you have enough copper in the water to kill algae then you have enough copper in the water to stain hair and pool materials.
chemical called "iron away" no joke
