Is "modular home" the fancy way of saying trailer?

Question:or am I missing something.....

Answers:
Todays "Modular Homes" are built with Good Materials like stick built homes. Some parts of it are built in a Factory, but alot of it is built on the persons property. The materials used in Modulars are far Superior over a regular Trailor home. Also HomeOwners Insurance is alot Cheaper for a Modular than a Trailor Home because they will not go "Poof" if a fire was to start.

can be
Yes, or Mobil Home, or Trailer House,Or trailer. You got it Babe!
basically. The only difference between a double wide and a modular home is that they do actually build a part of it on site. It's like 60 percent done at a factory and like 20 percent done on your land. It's mainly done to get past trailer restrictions in certain neighborhoods. Hope this helps.
Not necessarily.

Many modular homes are built in sections (modules) in a factory to a customer's specifications. They are transported to the customer's building site on wheels (the frame of the MH is often a steel assembly), and moved into position. Depending on the foundation, the wheels can be removed, the frame attached to the foundation and skirting or other valence is installed. Plumbing and other utilities are 'hard-wired' to the home and building site.
No. Today's modular homes are typically indistinguishable from stick built homes. Asphalt shingle roofs, vinyl siding ect. The vast majority of them are, essentially, stick built, just built in a factory setting and constructed to withstand the rigors of being transported. They can be considerably less expensive that stick builts too. Lemme stress "can be". Some of the guys that sell these things apparently got their sales training at used car lots.
Yeah, you're missing something. A modular home is what I call a snap together. They can be any size and are moved in 2 sections same as a double wide trailer but......the house is put together on top of a permanent cement foundation same as a home and the garage is added on after the house is put together. There is an attic and crawl space, vaulted ceilings and they last just like a house and you'd never know the difference between a house or modular but you can definately tell a trailer.
Yes, modulars are glorified trailer houses, and like trailers, they're junk. Poor quality everything. Just helped a friend get hers put together. Junk. Junk. Junk.

And they will not hold their value like a real house.
