How can I get rid of houseflies?
Question:I live in Texas. It is ridiculously hot...just about year round. Currently the flies here are out of control. Each time my kids open the front or back door of the house, flies come in. On a daily basis I kill approx 20+ flies. I shoot them with Windex and it sort of stuns them and then I grab them with a paper towel.
How can I deter them from even entering the house at all? My house is clean with nothing for them to do but fly around and crash into my window all day and make me insane.
Currently I am trying the penny in the water bag trick, hopefully that will help.
Does anyone have any luck with this method or can share another with me? Otherwise it is going to be a LONG summer!
Thanks!!

I have the same problem. I also use windex, does the trick but does not keep them from coming in. Hope you get some good answers.
get bug spray.. we had like 347348274 flies and my mom bought some and now we have like none...
I live in Texas too and we got some big ones around here! other than swatting them with a fly-swatter, there is not much you can do about the little buggers. They seem to wait for the door to open and they just fly in!
get these flypaper things and hang them outside and maybe one inside just in case. close all open doors and put screens on your windows so you can enjoy the fresh air without the flies
You could by a fogger. These are powered tools that you load chemicals into then go outside and fog the area killing all flies and mosquito's but some beneficial bugs too unfortunately. Do this every couple days and the problem will be greatly reduced. Good old fashioned fly stips that flies stick to work also. You will need lots of them though by your description of the problem.
home depot has the coolest fly killer. it is shaped like a tennis racket and safe for kids too. it zaps them when you hit them with it. they cost 10 dollars and are a fun way to de fly any home.
bug spray
Why not plain old flypaper or strips? They are kinda ugly, but do seem to work. YOu can also buy flytraps, which they sell at home improvement centers or garden/farm stores.
use bug spray and making sure all hard surfaces are clean and not sticky. clean with a strong product like clorox clean-up.
