Old custom jewelry for Halloween at goodwill! It turned out to be a very big nice expensive diamond ring. Husband also bought a 1966 Mustang at garage sale for $100 dollars. He only put $45 dollars into it and about 3 hours work and sold it for $7,000 dollars 6 months later.

i found metallica's entire cd collection with the books in them and everything for $30! it was a good day...
I found an antique perfume bottle from hand made from Russia at a Goodwill store for only a dollar, it's worth a fortune.
I found an old flint lock pistol at a garage sale for 50.00 and it turned out to be authentic.
A sealed piece of software for $5. It was the current version of a CAD program. It retailed at about $350.

But, the most fun for me is slide rules. I can't remember spending more than a dollar for one and I have a modest collection. Most of all I like them all. The experts tell you, if you plan to collect something make it something you like. I followed that advice and have never been sorry.
