How do you get ferns to be so lush? Can they last all winter? Can they last indoors?

Ah I love ferns especially Boston and Asparagus! The best way to make them lush is to mist them with a spray bottle or hose if they are outside. I mist mine almost every day and this cuts down the need to water so often, just drench them once a week for watering. Keep in mind that they are not too fond of full direct sunlight, depending on where you live morning sun is alright. Using some Miracle Grow or other plant food is good as well. Just don't over do it, you could burn the roots. Be sure and cut of any dead or dying branches, they draw energy from the plant that's better used to grow new ones. Depending on your winters, yes they can but cannot tolerate a freeze, and may do better inside for the time being. Good luck, may your fern grow lush and live a long life! ;-) God bless.
You can hang them outside in summer but be sure it is in shade and water every day. Have good drainage too.
Then bring inside in winter the bath room is a perfect place to hang it because it can get a lot of moisture in there from the shower. Use plant food sticks in spring and fall.

Keep them moist, give them a dose of water in which you've put some epsom salts. Fertilize.
Depending on the type of fern, they can last all winter and/or indoors. Know that some do best in full sun, some in no sun, and everything in between. Check on the type of fern to see if it will do well in your house/yard.

One of the ways to ensure lush growth is to remember to keep ferns in the shade-even indoors. They should be out of draughts.Remember-very important to mist spray over top of ferns, and never water from below. Also you can get a liquid fertiliser. The one I use is called Lush.I fertilise once a year.I grow my ferns in a natural punga pot. Punga is a tree fern we grow in New Zealand. The pot I fill with plain potting mix. They are usually pretty sturdy, but heavy frosts will kill some varities.
