Is there anyway to tell how much energy a specific power outlet is using?
Question:I know my energy bill for this month is going to be pretty high because of getting my aquarium back up and running. But I would like to know how much of the energy bill the tank is responsible for.
There are too many factors to just compare it to last month's bill -- and besides, I really would like to know how much power it's actually drawing.
Answers:
there is a thing out there called "Kill-A-Watt" its like $30. It'll tell you how much power you are using through one plug. Just google it.
What you need is a "clamp-on" ammeter and an adapter to allow you to determine the current draw for the whole shebang. You find the current draw at maximum, estimate the amount of time it draws that amperage per day, do some multiplication and you'll come pretty close to the yearly cost if you know the price of your juice for a kilo-watt hour.
most object have the power consumption on the object so just look around the tank or the power cord
