Is there anyway to bring the pile back up on a carpet?

Question:i had a nice carpet but 5 months of foot traffic & my 1year old son playing on it have battered it, need to know if it can be done & how

Answers:
If you have a lot of carpets in your house it is well worth buying a carpet shampoo-er. I've had mine for about 8 years and do my carpets (also my daughters house) frequently because of the pet hair etc. Lot less expensive in the long to buy rather than hiring. You can get the shampoo cheaper on the shopping channels. they do a special one for pets which is great.

Clean the carpet and the use a plastic garden rake.
Yeah they sell carpet rakes, vaccume then start raking to bring up the pile.
Hire a good quality carpet cleaner (wet type) that usually brings up the pile as well as cleaning it. Don't be tempted to buy a cheap one from your local diy shop, only hired machines do a good job.
brush it back up. the carpet is only 5 months old right?
just get a broom or a hand brush and brush it, they have carpet rakes at stores also they work good too. If your carpet is that new, you still have a lot of loose fibers in the carpet. Hence why you have to buy new filters, bags and sometimes vacuum cleaners.
use a clean water ice cube and a comb or brush.
