Would you buy a church to live in?
Question:A church in my village has come up for sale, it's on the market for £50,000.There is a graveside all around it (not for sale you'll be glad to know) There is a church in Cardiff that's a great music venue, so I can understand people buying a church for something like that. The church I got married in however is now somebody's home.Could you live in an old church? It would spook me.
Answers:
I saw on Discovery Travel & Living Channel a documentary "Grand Designs" about a couple that bought a church and they modified it to be a home. We are not talking about a regular church, but a church with an old style, a complex architecture that allows you to be creative inside it and/or outside it. They had termopan windows, a large wood door, door bell and the walls were restaured. Inside, they used the high ceiling to have a living with open area and high ceiling. It was like you were sitting in a large, beautiful open space area. The rest... they divided the space, they built a 1st floor, bathrooms, bedrooms etc.
The bottom line... my bottom line. If I saw a documentary with a name like "can you living in a church?", my first answer is "Hell/God NO!!". But after this documentary on Discovery, when I saw what you can do with an old building, in fact, with a great architecture, I would think again the whole question.
And it's not necessary to have the graveyard close. They didn't.
And you can restore the nearby area and the locals will be pleased. If the building is abandoned for years, you will gain the admiration fo your neighbours.
no I wouldn't
yes snap it up
id buy it where is it.?
Yes I would love to buy one, I like their windows, shapes of the church, roof everything about them. Living next to a graveyard wouldn't bother me, it's just superstition.
For £50 grand I would snap it up. I only live 40 mins from Cardiff.
The graveyard and church shouldn't spook you, after all how many peple die in graveyards or churches ? - i would say it would be a very pleasant experience and not one to be feared
Well there spirtiual places so it shouldnt, i would its a good investment. maybe not live but buy, many are architecturally beautiful
No Way!
Yes I would, but I would insist on deconsecrating the ground by performing some kind of sacrifice first.
for 50,000 you could buy it .do it up and sell it for more...so you wouldn't have to live in it for long if you didn't want to...it wouldn't bother me, as long as it was secure.
yes ,why not no different to Any other home.
Why not?
You know that the water is always going to be good.
The neighbours are quiet.
Probably got good acoustics for your stereo equipment.
You can probably have good fun dressing up at Halloween.
I've got an eye on one myself. Expensive to convert for living in though.
Yes, but by the time you've posted this some buy-to-let landlord has already bought it. So, thanks for letting us all know about it.
no
A church is home of god , i would only blame your parish for selling a holly place, is that cos they do not have enogh money ? if you really want to buy the church i recommend that you turn it into a charity office or a medical centre this way it'll remain for god and his believers.
No it would not spook me because I am a spiritualist medium! It should not spook you either because what is in the graves is only the earthly carcass that the souls lived in while on earth. The souls are long departed and therefore there is nothing to be afraid of the dead bodies. I would love to buy a church as it would have a lot of positive and spiritual energy in it and also lots of living space.
wow what a great chance. i have friends that bought an old church they have done great things with it but VERY expensive.
The church has already been blessed, so would you if you bought it. And just think....your'e neighbours would be very quiet. lol
