How do you stop your squash from rotting?

Question:my squash plants are rotting from the blossom end. turning brown. others have shriveled up and fallen off. how do i stop it. or prevent it. mind you i live in the state of florida which has slightly acidic soil but i've used miracle grow moisture control potting soil.

Answers:
Are the leaves covered with a fine white misty substance? If so you could have a fungus. Try spraying with 3% hydrogen peroxide
I tried growing calabaza without success. I got beautiful yellow flowers, but no fertilization. They only bloom 1 day. then I planted some flowers that attracted bees, and now I get squash.
I also have a beehive in my attic now.
But you can try fertilizing them with a solution of rotten liquid compost.
I put all my ffruit and vegetable peelings in a large bucket of water. I keep adding water as I pour it off to fertilize.
You can speed up this fermentation process by putting the peelings in the blender beforehand, or get some pulp from a juice bar. The fermented liquid is the best fertilizer.
Best of Luck!

too much water is getting on the fruit body. Also, put the body on hay which keeps it up higher.
