Sand keeps accumulating at the end of my pool.?
Question:We do not have sand on us when entering the pool and we do not have a sandy yard. We do not live near a beach. Does this mean there is something wrong with our sand filter. I am a new pool owner therefore I know nothing. Please help

Vacuum the sand to the filter, not to waste. Once you get it all up backwash the filter for 2-5 minutes or until the view glass runs completely clear (only sand grains swirling around), then move it to rinse and rinse for at least 45 seconds... sometimes it's best to rinse for a full minute.
I know the instructions don't want you to do this for these amounts of times but it ensures you have no sand in the lines after backwashing. If the sand continues after this then you will want to remove the sand from the filter and check the laterals inside as one may be cracked.
Also, the wrong type of sand will do this as well. If it wasn't filled with silica sand of the proper size then it will go through the laterals and back to your pool. This can also happen if the sand is pretty old as it wears against itself inside the filter under normal operations. Normally this won't happen until the sand is 5+ years old though.
Are you sure it is sand and not fine dirt ? Is your filter old ? The sand can become finer over time and get into the pool, or you could have an internal problem in the filter, or even the wrong tyoe of sand(unlikely) . My guess would be that when you initially set up the pool, the very finest of sand in your filter got washed out into your pool and when you vacuum it up, because it is so fine, it just gets eventually recycled back in. Either vacuum the sand to waste, or use one of those blue sticky cubes to get it to clump, vacuum then backwash, and see if the problem goes away. If you still have sand after this, see your local pool shop for advice.
