What safe way can I rid my home of "daddy longlegs"?

Per my exterminator, the only way to get rid of spiders is to get rid of their food. So kill the bugs with an insecticide and the spiders will eventually go away.
Why would you want to get rid of those, Daddy long legs are not poisenous and rid your house of unwanted bugs.
The best way to reduce bugs is to have other animals around like pet cats, or birds, or even lizards and snakes.
I don't know any other way, than keeping the doors and windows closed as much as possible, particularly when it is dark and the lights are on.
After that you just have to collect them up and get rid of them.
