The water that they use for the sprinkler system is that sewer water?

Question:i was just wondering because this morning i went outside and the sprinklers where on and it smelled like cow manuer and then again that would be dangerous if that was poop because some kids play in it,and it also gets on our patio furniture outside such as our chairs and our table and that has alot of bacteria.oh and one last thing could you tell me why they use that type of water and not fresh water.

thankyou
so much!

Answers:
Raw sewage is not used for irrigation because of odor and spreading pathogens. If recycled water is used, it has undergone three step water treatment and while it is not quite drinking water quality, it is close. What you were smelling may have been put on the ground before watering commenced.

Not likely!! That is regular city water. The same that comes from your tap.
Very possible that it is from your septic system, if that is what you have. That is very common. I doubt it would be from a sewer system.

They use it for multiple reasons.
1) Gives your septic water somewhere to go
2) Its free!
3) It is very nutritious for your grass, as evidenced by your picinic table.

It should not be dangerous, if it is properly maintained. I do not have one, and do not know much about maintaining them, but if the company that installed it didn't give you information, you need to find a landscape business who can tell you how to properly maintain it.
I am pretty sure it is...or something like it anyway.
no it is fresh tap water , sometimes if the system hasn't been run in a long time the water in the pipes can get a little funky hence the smell good luck from Texas ,,,, oh it also might be well water and can have a smell too.. there is not enough water in a septic tank to do much watering
No, it's regular tap water.
Unless there are signs posted that say "Non-potable water", it is fresh "city" water. Some areas such as golf courses use recycled water that is not drinking quality but have signs posted.
Well if it was cow manure your lawn would be a whole lot better with it than without it. It depends on where you live. More and more town and cities are recycling their water, so in some instances the water that's on your lawn it sewer water. Its not all that bad...lol.
sometimes sewer water is used for sprinklers, unless you have a well to help conserve energy
