Is living in a basement dangerous?

Question:I am currently living in a basement with my mom, dad, and brother. I was just wondering, is this dangerous because of gas leaks or something?

Answers:
Living in a basement is not very healthy for a few reasons..first off the air in a basement tends to be stale and also it's not good for the lungs because of chances of mold and mildew that grow in basements. If you live in a basement for a while you will start to notice your nose allways being dry or stuffed up. And when you catch a cold it will take longer to fight it off ..My wife and i lived in a basement for almost 6 months one time and the house we lived in was a very nice clean home but just being in the basement we were allways sneezing and we started to have problems with breathing and not to mention the bouts of cabin fever because it is allways dark in a basement so i don't recommend it to anyone. good luck

It is not dangerous unless you have leaks. You should check for leaks at least once a month.
its dangerous if there is only one way out. cuz if a fire starts in front of your only exit, you are kinda screwed.
with proper ventilation and egress windows you are ok. but is there a radon issue in your area? the DEQ or the EPA has a free test kit
